Meeting the Gillen Girls!!

On Friday, Nov 11, we took Gabriel to Findlay to meet Dr. Hennessey, a pediatric cardiologist, to take a close look at Gabriel's heart murmur. Dr. Hennessey did and Echo and an EKG of Gabe's heart, during which Gabe did awesome! He listened to his heart and lungs and felt for his pulse points. After all the tests, Dr. Hennessey went over the Echo with us frame by frame and determined that as of right now, he didn't see anything alarming that was causing the murmur and most likely it was the blood flow from the heart to the lungs. When baby's are born, there is a change in flow in this area when the cord is cut. It can take some time for all of this to get completely sorted out thus causing a murmur. As baby grows, so does the heart and pathways and the murmur disappears. So, at Gabriel's next regular Dr visit with Dr. Byrne in Lima we will recheck for the murmur. If it is gone, then we're in the clear! If she hears it still, we will revisit Dr. Hennessey sometime in January to recheck with him. So, we left feeling optimistic and relieved and very thankful our little boy seems to be doing well! :)

On Thursday, Julie, Tina and Ashley flew up from Florida to meet baby Gabe and spend some time with Ohio Family and Friends. On Friday night we all went to Grandma Shirley's house for some great food and wonderful time with the Nowlan family! All the visiting wore Gabriel completely out and he slept for a wonderful 5 full hours that night! YAY!! :) I guess a house full of women oo'ing and ah'ing over you will do that to a guy! haha
