Memorial Day

This past Memorial Day weekend we celebrated with family and friends!! On Saturday, the Schnittke's all came over to Cincy for a Reds game! So we met up with them to watch the BIG win over the Astros!!

For the past few weeks Brett has been hearing about these amazing Funnel Cake Fries being sold at Great American Ballpark and we FINALLY got some! And yes, they are AMAZING!!!

The next morning we all met up at the Ft. Wright Family Restaurant for breakfast. It's a hole in the wall restaurant where you "get a lot for a little"

We tried Goetta, a meat and oat dish famous in the Cincinnati area.
We will never try it again!

Later that day we met up with Deb, Chris, Rhonda, Michael, Anthony and his friend Kade for the Reds game. Unfortunately there are no pictures of this event because it was SO miserably hot. We were all on the verge of heat exhaustion and I couldn't muster up the energy to bring out the camera. We also lost, so no need to remember that. :( But it was nice to see everyone!

On Memorial Day we went to the Park Hills Memorial Day Parade. Not nearly as good as the Kenton parade, but still, it was a parade!

We honestly have NEVER seen SO much candy thrown in a parade as what was thrown in this one. Every kid there had huge bags to pick up their loot. Every car in the parade threw TONS of candy on the route. As we left, there were still tons of candy laying in the street. Needless to say, these children were all on sugar highs for the rest of the day!

We then went downtown to Taste of Cincinnati. A huge food festival featuring local Cincinnati Restaurants. Brett got ribs from Montgomery Inn

I got a Potato Pancake from Izzy's, SO GOOD!!

We went to the Kashi tent and got free cereal and granola bars!!

After we finished there we went to Aunt Cindy and Tim's for a cookout. It was nice to see them and Parker and Curtis and meet Tim's family. And, we ate more food!

Max didn't know quite what to do with the American Flag we got at the parade!
